DTN COMMENTS: A token bid has been offered and passed in Western 
Iowa this afternoon. So far, that is the only bid to be found. A 
few asking prices have been noted at $188 in the South, but they 
are still not established in the North. It looks as if significant 
trade volume will be delayed until Thursday and/or Friday. 

Today's slaughter totaled 125,000 head, 1,000 more than last week, 
but 1,000 less than a year ago. Cattle futures closed mostly 
moderately lower on live contracts, off 27 to 95, while feeder 
issues ended the day mostly sharply lower, off 70 to 162. Beef 
cutouts are expected to close higher with moderate to good box 
movement.
