A federal judge in North Dakota will allow agriculture and other business interest groups to intervene in a lawsuit filed by 24 states against the new waters of the U.S. rule.

While there is a desire in Congress to support cutting-edge research for agriculture, the support actually falls flat when compared to agricultural investments taking off in other countries. Groups committed to boosting ag research spending in the farm bill want nearly $7 billion more in committed mandatory spending over the next decade.

All eight of the major fertilizers were lower compared to last month with five fertilizers down a considerable amount. DTN designates a significant move as anything 5% or more. Leading the way lower once again was anhydrous, UAN28, UAN32 and potash.
May corn is down 1 cent, May soybeans are down 12 cents and May KC wheat is up 4 cents.
Live cattle closed slightly lower as mixed cash trading did not develop any excitement. Mixed boxed beef also continues to be the pattern. Hog futures again made new lows but were able to bounce as short-covering took place after the recent large decline.
